ARA Symposium 2015 Wrap-up
8th October, 2015

CIS’s Rupert Horry with symposium Executive Officer Dennis King
The Australian Renderers Association’s 13th International Symposium was held at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast from July 21-24.
The symposium was a great opportunity for CIS to connect with industry leaders from all over the world. Over the course of the four days, the keynote speakers made presentations introducing the latest in rendering technology and talked about the future of the industry.
The symposium also provided free workshops which covered the latest in rendering equipment innovation, waste water treatment, methane capture, and more. Here, the delegates heard from operators, engineers and even the manufacturers themselves.
As well as the presentations, the trade exhibition was a fantastic opportunity for the delegates to exchange ideas and connect. This year, CIS had an exhibitor’s booth run by Rupert Horry (our Administration and Customer Service Manager), Katrina Saunderson (Laboratory Manager) and Mark Busch (Laboratory Administration). Our CEO, Mathew Conoulty was also in attendance to support the team. Throughout the exhibition the CIS team had an excellent chance to meet and talk with many of our clients face-to-face, allowing us to reaffirm existing relationships and foster new ones.
At this year’s symposium, there were a few prominent themes that were prevalent throughout the week. We certainly fielded a lot of questions at the booth about future testing requirements including requirements for DNA testing, chemical and pesticide residues and how changing regulations overseas affect the local industry. We all agreed that staying across those requirements is both a challenge and a definite necessity.
We would like to thank all those that came to visit the CIS booth. It was great to see many of the people we all speak with on a near daily basis. It was great to have Katrina and Mark from the laboratory on hand; many of our clients were very happy to meet them and ask them technical questions.
We very much look forward to seeing you all again in two years time at the next ARA Symposium.
